Fortune 500 companies reaching out to Veterans

Veterans are in need of several resources to help them get back on track to a normal life.  They have been faced with several challenges from unemployment, injuries and emotional trauma such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) that could be what is causing the rise in suicides and homelessness.

Amongst the Fortune 500  businesses there is a dedication to the 100,000 Jobs Mission that is being spearheaded by JP Morgan Chase to hire Veterans.  As a part of this effort companies like JP Morgan Chase, Verizon and AT&T have all joined this mission.  These businesses are all dedicated to helping our Veterans nationwide.

Throughout the U.S. there are other programs and organizations committed to providing employment services, housing, special benefits, education and training.  Here are a few of them:

  • The Michigan Department of Military & Veterans Affairs & Veterans Health Administration, Kalamazoo, MI,
  • America’s Heroes at Work is a product of the U.S. Department of Labor designed to address the challenges of our employed veterans that are experiencing and living with TBI and PTSD.  The organization has created severals partnerships between veterans and employers ranging from Department of Veterans Affairs, Booz Allen & Hamilton, Northrop Grumman and Department of Justice to National Geospatial Intelligence Agency.
  •  Wounded Warrior Project is designed to bring public awareness to the needs of our injured Veterans and provide assistance in meeting those needs.  They offer a wide range of programs for the mind, body, economical empowerment and group support.

The Top 50 high performing businesses are utilizing the skills and trades the Veterans received while in the military.  Our Veterans already have the aptitude of being professional and efficient but now they are receiving professional development services to take them to the next level.  It is wonderful to have the ability to experience their transition from fighting for our Country to being a productive, working citizen.
