The month of November is when we celebrate our Veterans. Even though a day has been set-aside for Veteran’s Day, November 11, our Veterans deserve so much more. Our Country is safer due to the sacrifices of these men and women.
As you watch movies such as First Blood, The Manchurian Candidate, Dead Presidents, Born on the Fourth of July or The Kingdom whether they are factual or inspired they all depict elements of the challenges faced by our Soldiers both here and abroad. They are faced with several fundamentals from seeing other soldiers within their platoon dying or injured; becoming injured themselves and experiencing brain injuries or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to facing unemployment and homelessness. Despite the negative challenges there are some success stories to be told about our Veteran men and women from maintaining their health, returning to jobs and becoming successful business owners to living productive lives.
During November there will be several forms of Veteran events from job fairs and celebrations to parades, here are a few others:
There are “so” many ways to support our Veteran men and women whether lending a helping hand and volunteering, making a donation to your favorite Veteran organization, providing employment to a Veteran or providing professional development services to a Veteran to enhance their skills or introduce them to a new trade or profession. The choice is yours. If you have any way that you can help to pay respect and support for our Veterans please do so today.
